BOMBAY MIX
Flew out to Bombay where we waited for MIL to arrive from S Africa...she made it.
We were all exhausted as we flew out to Maldives...gorgeous sight as we came in
It was hot & muggy...found the point of departure for the cruise ship.
The old fishing boat that took us out to the ship was about to sink but it made it.
Char & her mum had their own cabin...I really enjoyed the peace in mine.
Sri Lanka was dirty...
Goa was filthy...
Bombay was appalling...
Our hotel was quite good...but I was treated badly...sorry for being white😠
The other 2 were treated great.
Finally home
CHINA VIRUS
...And so the world came to know the wrath of God Jehovah through bad dietry & sanitry behaviour from the nation of China...A fore runner for the disasters that are ahead.
NORTHERN ISLES
I took the bus all through Aberdeenshire,Moray,Highlands,Sutherland & Caithness where I stayed a night in Thurso.
I took the ferry to Stromness in the Orkneys & stayed a couple of nights in Kirkwall...all so peacefull & friendly.
Got to see Scapa Flow made famous in both World Wars.
Then a short flight from a quaint airport to Sumborough in Shetlands where I stayed a while in Lerwick, a lovely little town.
My B & B was great & I took tours to Scalloway, a short ferry ride to Bressay & the town itself before heading home to Aberdeen on the 12 hr ferry which was fun.
The weather throughout the week was fantastic...the people, great, v different to the Scots...In fact they do not regard themselves as Scots.
Well recommended
ANGLIA
FELIXSTOWE
I had always planned to see more of E Anglia in England.
I flew down to Norwich...only 8 passengers...picked up my Citroen rental...really nice car & drove down to Felixstowe where I stayed in a great little house.
What a lovely area. I walked along the prominade to the estuary & marina at the River Deben. Spoke with a really nice chap about boats...now had been this yr, my long held dream of owning a cruiser and I was making plans😎
WOODBRIDGE
I had always wanted to explore this market town just outside Ipswich. It was quaint & friendly. Had a great coffee in the last town of my Dad's parents before they passed on. It was also his last residence before his final migration to N Rhodesia.
On the major inlet...the Stour was Britain's largest container port.
LOWESTOFT
Stopped in this attractive coastal town whose popularity was huge in former days.
YARMOUTH
Then on to what I had hoped would be a lovely stay...It was not. The large town was shabby...a bad element there, clearly with drugs, prostitution & crime & my house was a shambles.
Felt unsafe everywhere...left after 2 nights...😲
Highly unrecommended town.
SCARBOROUGH HILL
I had booked into a fine country Inn for the last 2 nights. It was fantastic & cosy with the food amazing.
There were connections with both Oliver Cromwell & Horatio Nelson to its fantastic history.
Took drives to the coast incl. Happisburgh,Bacton & Mundesley...Bacton looked really nice.
CROMER/SHERINGHAM
On the last day I motored through these attractive & busy towns...I did prefer Cromer...then a slow crawl back to Norwich & my flight home.
This one's for you Dad❤
