DANUBE
We flew to Copenhagen & stayed a night with some sight seeing.
On to Munich & then a train to Passau on the Austrian border.
We boarded our small river cruiser with its quaint cabins. The food was delicious...all very German & Swiss. We made friends with a couple from Stuttgart.
We stopped at Melk where I walked in this picturesque town...then a stop in Vienna where we stayed a night as well...I had a coffee at a fancy cafe & did some IT work.
Then on to Budapest in Hungary for 2 nights...really good fun watching all the busy center from our perch on the deck as well as the busy river traffic.
Although it was early March & there had been snow at our departure in Passau, the weather was fantastic & warm.
On the way back we stopped at a grubby Bratislava in Slovakia & then the lovely little town of Krems in Austria...
All in all, a well worth cruise...We railed back to Munich where we had a couple of nights & a visit to the world famous beer garden...or infamous Viktaulienmarkt...depending on how many quaffs one has from the gigantic bierstein...& I had a few to wash the wurst & sauerkraut down...that's my excuse & I'm sticking to it.🤪
We then flew home via Oslo & a night there.
FAREWELL MY LOVELY
We noticed Georgia was not full of her usual zest & had her examined. To our horror, we were informed she had a tumour which had spread.
We took her down to specialists in Edinburgh & then a course of chemo in Aberdeen. Whilst there was stability, Georgia sadly came to the end of her life in Aug. We miss her every day...she was our child whom God had given us. She has the most gentle nature & I know that through her, God did a work in me. She is in the care of God's GRACE & MERCY.
SALLY/TREVOR
Shortly afterward 2 of my former colleagues & friends from UCB...Sally Field & Trevor Kirk (Captain) also passed away...59 & 69 respectively...now also awaiting their resurection
LCG...N IRELAND
Spent the first of some visits to Bangor & Lurgan in Ulster. Whilst the theology generally was right, the warmth was decidedly cool.
MALVERN
Had spent many a time here working back n the 80's, now here for a FOT in this beautiful part of Worcestershire...my B & B in Worcester was not a place of delight.
NELSPRUIT
Whilst Char spent time with some old school friends, I took the oppurtunity to spend a week in East Transvaal at a lovely & simple resort...Eric's nr Nelspruit.
I needed time alone grieving Georgia who had meant so much plus time for prayer & meditation.
I visited Nelspruit, Witrivier & Kruger Airport which is in a really nice setting.
DAWIE...on the way back to J'burg I stopped a night with the Viljoens & Dawie whom had emergency heart surgery.
